Eury Pérez vs. Tanner Bibee: The Pitching Matchup
Eury Pérez is the headliner here. The young Marlins right-hander has shown flashes of the electric stuff that made him one of the more exciting arms in the organization, and Saturday gives him another opportunity to build on that in front of a home crowd. The assignment is a stiff one — Cleveland is a disciplined, well-constructed ballclub — but Pérez has the ceiling to match anyone on any given day.
Bibee is no pushover for the Guardians. The Cleveland starter has established himself as a reliable arm in their rotation, and the Marlins lineup will need to work counts and find gaps if they want to generate traffic early. He is the kind of pitcher who can make a passive offense pay, so the Marlins cannot afford to get passive.

Keys to Watch at loanDepot Park
Pérez's Command
When Pérez is locating his fastball and mixing his offspeed pitches effectively, he is difficult to square up. The question on any given start is whether his command holds deep into the game. If he can get through five or six innings without a big crooked number, Miami's bullpen should be in a manageable spot.
Xavier Edwards in the Middle of the Order
Batting cleanup, Edwards is being asked to provide a run-producing presence in the heart of this lineup. His ability to make contact and use the whole field gives Miami a different kind of threat in that spot — one built on bat-to-ball skill rather than raw power. How he handles Bibee's mix will go a long way toward determining whether this offense gets going.
The Top of the Order Setting the Table
Liam Hicks leading off at DH and Otto Lopez hitting second gives Miami a dynamic top two that can manufacture runs in different ways. If those two are reaching base and Lopez is using his speed, the pressure on Bibee starts early and does not let up.
Prediction
This one comes down to Pérez. If he is sharp and controls the strike zone, the Marlins have enough in this lineup to scratch out the runs needed against Bibee. Miami takes this one at home, 4-2, backed by a quality start from Pérez and timely hitting from the middle of the order.
